New Year, New Me

I'm going to join the rest of the crowd and say, "Where did 2011 go?!"

It seems odd (and a little ridiculous!) to say this, but when I look back over the past year, nothing is really popping out at me. Some of the highlights of 2011:
  • We moved 3 times
  • I graduated from college
  • I completed my first warrior dash
  • I celebrated 5 years with the BF

Now that the year has come to an end, its time to look forward to the coming year. There is a crazy amount of debate in the blog world on whether or not to make new year's resolutions. Some people find it motivating while others think they are completely ridiculous. Personally, I like having something to shoot for. Even though I haven't had the greatest track record with goals, this year I believe I can be different. I have hope, and for me that's good enough.

Now to the list! In my earlier post thoughts on the new year, I mentioned the four categories that I wanted to focus on this year. Under each category, I have a few keys things to focus on.

  • Personal
  1. Cut back on alcohol
  2. Read 24 books this year
  3. Take 15 minutes of quiet time a day for reflection
  • Professional
  1. Build an awesome resume
  2. Pursue new paths for advancement
  • Physical
  1. Run my first marathon
  2. Complete my first triathlon
  3. PR in the 5K distance
  • Financial
  1. Pay off one credit card
  2. Save $600 dollars
  3. Build a budget and stick with it
Some of these goals already have plans in place and some don't. I am so excited to see what 2012 has in store for me. This is going to be my best year yet!

Are you setting resolutions? What do you hope to accomplish?

  1. These are great resolutions/goals! I just wrote about mine, too. It's the same as it's been for the past two years, continue my weight loss journey. I've lost the 70, now on to my last 20! I do believe in setting resolutions; they work so long as you do!! Good luck with yours!! :-D

  2. @cherierunsthis.com Congrats on the amazing weight loss!! I didn't mention anything about that this year because I figure if I focus on my training and a healthier lifestyle, the weight loss will come with it. Happy New Year!!!
